Biscuits And Vanilla Honey Butter

  1. For the biscuits:
  2. Start by preheating the oven to 450 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Combine the dry ingredients (flour through baking powder) in a large bowl. Add cold butter and cut it in with a pastry blender until the butter is broken down into pea size pieces. Then add milk to the bowl. Start with 1/2 cup and add more as needed to form a well combined, slightly sticky dough.
  4. Lightly flour a board and turn the dough out onto it. Knead the dough just until it comes together. Roll to a thickness of 1/2 to 3/4 inch. Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out biscuits. Press down and twist lightly to make clean cuts. Re-roll the scraps to make more biscuits until you've used up all the dough.
  5. Transfer the cut biscuits to the lined baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
  6. To make the vanilla honey butter, scrape the caviar out from the inside of the vanilla bean. Put the butter into a small bowl. Add the caviar to the softened butter, along with the honey. Mix until well combined. Serve on top of warm biscuits.
