Apple Dumplings
- 4 apples
- 1/3 c. walnuts, chopped
- 1/3 c. raisins
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1/4 c. milk
- 1/4 c. honey
- juice of 1/2 lemon
- grated rind of 1/3 lemon
- 1 c. water
- Cut the tops off the apples; remove the cores and seed, being careful not to puncture the skins.
- Fill each hollowed apple with 1/4 of the walnuts, raisins, molasses and cinnamon.
- Mix the flour and butter together and add just enough milk for the dough to form a ball.
- Divide the dough into 4 and roll each piece into a circle about 7 inches in diameter.
- Place an apple in center of each and gather up the dough, pressing the edges together at the top of the apple.
- Moisten edges with milk for good seal.
