Apple And Dried Cherry Turnovers
- 2 whole Tart Apples, Peeled, Cored, And Cut Into 1/2-inch Pieces
- 3 Tablespoons Fresh Orange Juice
- 1 teaspoon Orange Zest
- 1/3 cups Dried Cherries
- 1/4 cups Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon All-purpose Flour
- 1/2 teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoons Ground Nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoons Kosher Salt
- 1 package (17 Ounce Size) Frozen Puff Pastry, Thawed
- 1 whole Egg, Beaten
- 1. Preheat the oven to 400u0b0F. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
- 2. Combine the apples, orange juice, orange zest, cherries, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a large bowl and toss to combine.
- 3. Place one sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured work surface and roll out to a 12-inch square. Cut into four smaller squares. Distribute some of the apple mixture in the center of each square of dough and fold the pastry over the fruit to form a triangle. Seal the edges by pressing them together with the tines of a fork. Beat the egg in a small bowl. Brush the tops of the triangles with the egg wash and cut a slit in the top of each turnover. Place on the prepared baking sheets. Repeat with the remaining puff pastry and apple filling.
- 4. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes, until golden brown all over. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
