Salted Dulce De Leche Hot Chocolate

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, warm the dulce de leche. Whisk in the milk and cocoa powder until combined and smooth. Whisk in the salt next. Heat until warm.
  2. Meanwhile, prepare whipped cream (optional). In a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, whip, on medium-high speed, heavy cream and sugar until soft peaks form. Be careful not to over-beat.
  3. Serve hot chocolate immediately topped with a dollop of whipped cream and a garnish of dulce de leche or a dusting of cocoa powder. Or both!
