Christmas Corn Flake Wreaths
- 6 cups Corn Flakes
- 3 Tablespoons Butter
- 10-1/2 ounces, weight Marshmallows
- 1 teaspoon Green Food Coloring
- Red Hot Candies, Optional
- Place cornflakes in a large bowl. Set aside.
- Place a couple sheets of wax paper on the counter top and lightly butter them. (The wreaths are quite gooey and will stick to the paper if not buttered.)
- Keep a butter dish handy to butter your fingertips before forming each wreath.
- Melt butter and marshmallows in a microwaveable bowl using medium power in 45-second increments, stirring each time. Once melted and smooth, stir in food coloring. Pour marshmallow mixture over cornflakes. Stir to coat flakes.
- Set about 1/2 cup marshmallow/cereal mixture on wax paper. With buttered fingertips, create a hole in the center to form a wreath. Dab fingers in butter and repeat, moving quickly as the marshmallow-cereal sets up quickly.
- Recipe makes about 12 wreaths.
- Decorate with Red Hot candies, if desired. Store in an airtight container on wax paper.
- Note: Red Hots may be manufactured in a facility that also produces peanuts and would not be safe for those with tree nut allergies to consume.
