Salted Caramel Squares

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Mix together the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and sugar in an 8"x8" glass baking dish. Press down evenly with a fork to form a solid crust and bake for 8 minutes.
  3. Place chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl. Microwave heavy cream for a minute and if it's not boiling heat for another minute - keep heating until it's boiling. Then pour hot cream over chocolate. Let the mixture sit for five minutes and then stir until smooth.
  4. Unwrap caramels and place them in a small bowl with the milk. Microwave on high in the same manner as above, until hot and bubbly. Stir until smooth.
  5. Pour chocolate over baked pretzel crust.
  6. Drop melted caramel by the spoonful over chocolate. Use a knife to give it a marbled effect.
  7. Refrigerate until firm enough to cut into squares.
  8. Makes 16 squares.
