Classic Yellow Birthday Cake With Chocolate Frosting
- FOR THE CAKE:
- 2 sticks Unsalted Butter, Softened
- 1-1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 4 whole Eggs
- 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
- 2 cups All-purpose Flour
- 1/4 teaspoons Salt
- 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 1/2 cups Milk
- FOR THE FROSTING:
- 1 stick Unsalted Butter, Softened
- 1 cup Bittersweet Chocolate Chips, Melted
- Preheat the oven to 350u0b0F. Cream the butter and sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla extract and mix until airy and mixed throughout. Add the flour, salt, and baking powder, and mix just until incorporated. Add the milk and mix just until the batter is moistened throughout. Bake in a large, greased baking pan for 30 minutes, or until a cake tester comes out cleanly. Let the cake cool completely in the pan before frosting.
- For the frosting, whip the butter in the bowl of a stand mixer. Let the chocolate cool a little bit, just so it is close to body temperature. Mix in the melted chocolate and whip the frosting until it is light and paler in color. The color should be milk chocolate. Frost the cake on top with the frosting, and enjoy.
