Amazing Apple Cake
- FOR THE CAKE:
- 3 cups Flour
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 2 cups White Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 3/4 cups Canola Oil
- 1 cup Unsweetened Apple Sauce
- 3 whole Eggs, Beaten
- 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
- 3-1/2 cups Apples, Chopped
- 1 cup Walnuts, Chopped
- FOR THE GLAZE:
- 1-1/4 cup Brown Sugar, Packed
- 1/3 cups Milk
- 1/2 cups Butter
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 inch pan.
- In a large bowl, sift together flour, cinnamon, sugar, salt and baking soda. Add oil, applesauce, eggs and vanilla. Mix well by hand. This batter will be very thick. Fold in the chopped apples and nuts (if you want nuts). Spread evenly in the pan.
- Bake for 40 minutes. Then remove it from the oven and poke holes throughout the cake with a toothpick. Glaze while still hot. Let the glaze seep into the cake and cool slightly before slicing.
- For the glaze:
- In a saucepan combine the brown sugar, milk and butter over medium heat. Bring to a boil and stir constantly for two minutes. Pour over cake while still hot. Let the glaze seep into the cake.
- Serving size is 12 nicely sized pieces!
