Homemade Chai Tea
- 3 cups Water
- 3 cups Milk
- 7 whole Black Tea Bags (Individual Serving Size Bags, I Used Lipton Tea Bags)
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoons Cloves
- 1/2 teaspoons Ground Ginger
- 1 teaspoon Cardamom
- 1/2 teaspoons Nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon Light Brown Sugar
- 1 pinch Black Pepper
- 1/2 cups Honey
- 1. Boil milk and water in a medium-sized pot (note: watch carefully because the milk can suddenly boil over and you can end up with a messy stove like I did).
- Tip: Tie the teabags to a wooden spoon and set aside.
- 2. In a small food processor, grind the cinnamon, cloves, ginger, cardamom, nutmeg, brown sugar and black pepper.
- 3. Once milk and water has boiled, add the spice mixture, honey, and the spoon with the tea bags tied to it. Boil again.
- 4. Turn the heat off and steep the tea bags for 3-5 minutes. Then remove the spoon with the tea bags attached.
- 5. Filter chai tea by pouring it into a bowl through fine strainer. Enjoy!
