Kentucky Pie
- 1 pound Bulk Hot Breakfast Sausage
- 1 cup Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Flour
- 1/2 teaspoons Nutmeg
- 1/2 cups Orange Juice
- 1 stick Melted Butter
- 5 Granny Smith Apples, Peeled And Sliced
- 1 pound Cheddar Cheese, Shredded
- 2 Deep Dish Pie Crusts
- Fry sausage over medium heat until browned; drain well and set aside.
- Put your pie crusts into pie pans and have them ready to go.
- In a saucepan mix all of the remaining ingredients (everything except the apples, pie crusts and cheese). Cook over medium heat until thick, stirring occasionally. Remove sauce from heat. Add apples and stir until well covered. Pour the mixture into the two pie shells, sprinkle with sausage and top with cheese.
- Bake at 450 degrees F for 15 minutes then lower the heat to 325 degrees F and cook for 30 minutes more.
- 1 pie serves 8 people. Cooks Note: If you don't need both pies, freeze one before baking.
