Butterscotch Brownies
- 1 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. chopped pecans
- 1/3 c. butter or margarine
- 3/4 c. brown sugar
- 2 egg whites, slightly beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. butterscotch morsels
- Mix flour, baking powder, soda and salt; sift.
- Add nuts to flour mixture.
- Mix well; set aside.
- Melt butter in saucepan; remove from heat.
- Add sugar.
- Blend well, then cool slightly.
- Add egg and vanilla.
- Blend well into mixture.
- Add flour mixture in small amounts, mixing well with each addition.
- Mix in butterscotch chips.
- Spread dough in greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
- Bake in preheated 350u0b0 oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Cool in pan; cut into brownies.
- Yields 16 brownies.
