Grandma Derksen’S Oatmeal Caramelites
- 1 package (14 Oz. Size) Caramels, Unwrapped
- 2 Tablespoons Milk
- 1 cup Flour
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 1 cup Oats
- 3/4 cups Brown Sugar
- 3/4 cups Melted Butter
- 1 cup Chocolate Chips
- 1/2 cups Chopped Walnuts
- Melt caramels with the milk in a saucepan over low heat. When melted, remove from heat.
- Mix flour, salt, baking soda, oats, brown sugar and butter together and press 3/4-ths of the dough into a 9 x 13 pan.
- Bake at 350F for 10 minutes.
- Remove from oven, sprinkle with chocolate chips and walnuts.
- Then carefully spread the caramel mixture over the top. Sprinkle remaining crumbs over the top. Bake 15-20 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
