Caramel Wonder Bars
- 1-1/2 cup Quick Oats
- 1-1/2 cup Flour
- 1-1/4 cup Brown Sugar
- 3/4 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 1/4 teaspoons Salt
- 3/4 cups Butter, Melted
- 1 package Caramels, Unwrapped (40-50 If You Buy Bulk)
- 1/2 cups Whipping Cream
- 1 package Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips (1 1/2 - 2 Cups If Bulk)
- In a large bowl stir together the first five ingredients (oats through salt on the above list). Next, stir in the melted butter. I use a fork to cut the mixture together until crumbly. Set aside 1 cup of the oat mixture for later.
- Press the remaining oat mixture into a 13x9x2 pan (which has been greased or sprayed). Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes, until light brown.
- In the meantime, combine caramels and cream in a microwave safe bowl. Melt the two together, stirring often. (Start with 2 minutes, then stir and continue in 1 minute intervals until melted).
- When cookie/crust is finished baking, sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot crust. Top with caramel mixture and use a spatula to spread it out. Sprinkle reserved oat mixture evenly over the top. Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until top is golden brown.
- Serve and enjoy! And while you are at it...thank your lucky stars this recipe isn't a sin to enjoy!
