Turnip Gratinee
- 1 garlic clove, peeled
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 1/2 lb. turnips, peeled and cut in 1/8-inch slices
- 1 tsp. dried herbs
- 1/3 c. grated Gruyere cheese
- 1/3 c. grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 c. heavy cream
- 1/4 c. fresh bread crumbs
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- salt and pepper
- Preheat oven to 400u0b0.
- Rub a small gratin dish with garlic clove, then butter it well.
- Parboil the turnips for 2 to 3 minutes and drain.
- Arrange 1/3 of the turnip slices in a layer in the dish. Sprinkle them with salt and pepper and half the herbs. Mix the 2 cheeses and sprinkle the turnips with 1/3 of the mixture. Repeat layers, finishing with the cheese on top.
- Pour cream over the dish.
- Sprinkle with bread crumbs and dot with butter.
- Bake for 45 minutes.
