Sweet And Sour Beef Stew
- 1 1/2 lb. stew meat
- cooking oil
- 2 medium carrots, shredded
- 2 medium onions, sliced
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/4 c. vinegar
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. cold water
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- hot, cooked "no yolk" noodles
- Cut meat into 3/4-inch cubes.
- Brown meat in oil.
- In the same pan, combine all the other ingredients except the cold water and cornstarch.
- Cook over low heat until the meat is tender, about 1 1/2 hours.
- Blend in the cold water with cornstarch and add to the stew.
- Serve over the noodles, cooked per package directions. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
