Baked French Toast
- 2 cups Thick, Hearty Whole Wheat Bread Cut In Large Cubes
- 1/3 cups Crushed Pecans
- 1-1/2 cup Milk
- 2 Eggs
- 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
- 2 Tablespoons Turbinado
- 1 dash Salt
- 1/2 whole Orange, Zest And Juice
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1. Prepare this the night before.
- 2. Butter an 8" x 8" baking dish.
- 3. Cut bread and place into the dish. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
- 4. Whisk together milk, eggs, cinnamon, turbinado, salt, zest, juice, and vanilla in a separate bowl.
- 5. Pour mixture over bread. It should almost cover bread.
- 6. Cover and let sit overnight in fridge.
- 7. Morning of, preheat oven to 425u0b0F. Sprinkle top with a pinch of turbinado. Bake for 30 minutes or until liquid is set. Cover with foil after 15 minutes to prevent burning.
- 8. Enjoy with warmed 100% pure maple syrup.
