Cream Cheese Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 4 ounces, weight Butter, Softened
- 4 ounces, weight Cream Cheese, Softened
- 1-1/4 cup Brown Sugar
- 1/4 cups Granulated Sugar
- 1-1/2 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
- 3/4 teaspoons Salt
- 1 Egg
- 1 Egg Yolk, For Chewiness (optional)
- 2-1/4 cups All-purpose Flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 6 ounces, weight Bittersweet Chocolate Chips Or Chopped Chocolate
- 6 ounces, weight Semisweet Chocolate Or Chopped Chocolate
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Place butter and cream cheese in a mixing bowl and combine. Add both sugars and mix everything together. Scrape down the bowl and add vanilla, salt, egg, and egg yolk (if using it). The egg yolk will provide density and make the cookies chewier.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder and baking soda in another bowl and then fold it only halfway into the creamed mixture. Add both chocolates and fold until everything is thoroughly combined.
- Scoop portions of dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden-brown at the edges only.
- Allow to cool on the sheet.
- Makes about 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
