Aunt Sara'S Easter Cake
- 3 c. flour
- 3 eggs
- 1/4 lb. oleo
- pinch of salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/3 c. milk (it may take a bit more)
- Melt oleo, sugar and milk in a saucepan.
- Mix it together.
- Now put flour in bowl.
- Add the mixture from saucepan.
- Now add baking powder, vanilla and salt.
- Knead this dough well.
- If dough is too soft, add more flour.
- If dough is too stiff, add more milk.
- Roll dough into a rope form and shape it into any shape desired.
- You can make it like a basket and put a raw egg in center.
- Beat 1 egg. This is to be brushed onto dough before baking.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 25 to 35 minutes.
- Basket is made by putting one rope on top of the other, make it so some dough is under the egg.
- You can make braids and then make a cross with egg.
