Sweet And Sour Spareribs

  1. Cut ribs into 2 x 3-inch pieces and place close together in a broiler pan.
  2. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  3. Broil, turning once, until brown on both sides.
  4. Saute onions 2 minute sin a 5-quart roaster pan.
  5. Add brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, pineapple juice, water, salt and pepper.
  6. Cover ribs with mixture and cover pan. Simmer over low heat 2 hours.
  7. Remove ribs.
  8. Thicken sauce with cornstarch dissolved in water.
  9. Serve at once over hot, fluffy rice.
  10. Serves 6.
