Lemon Bread

  1. Cream butter; add sugar, creaming well.
  2. Beat in egg yolks. Mix the dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
  3. Blend just to mix.
  4. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites, chopped nuts and lemon peel.
  5. Turn into 3 greased and lightly floured bread pans.
  6. Bake at 350u0b0 for 55 or 60 minutes. Combine lemon juice and the 1/2 cup sugar.
  7. Prick all over the tops of loaves with toothpick.
  8. Spoon juice mixture over the hot loaves.
  9. Cool 1 hour before removing from pans.
  10. Cool for 24 hours before cutting to slice easily.
  11. Makes 3 loaves.
