Apple And Spice Browned Butter Muffins
- 1/2 cups Unsalted Butter
- 1 cup All-purpose Flour
- 1/2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
- 1/3 cups White Sugar
- 1/3 cups Light Brown Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon Ground Allspice
- 1/4 teaspoons Ground Cloves
- 1/4 teaspoons Freshly Grated Nutmeg
- 2 Eggs
- 1 cup Unsweetened, Plain Applesauce
- Turbinado Or Raw Sugar, For Topping
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0F.
- Put the butter in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat untiil it turns brown. Keep an eye on it, because it will go from perfect to burned really quickly!
- While the butter is cooling, add all of your dry ingrediients in a bowl and stir with a whisk to combine.
- In a small bowl, combine the eggs and applesauce, and then slowly drizzle in the browned butter. Add the applesauce mixture to your dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Don't overmix!
- Use an ice cream scoop to evenly distribute the batter into your muffin tin, lined with muffin liners. Top with the turbinado/raw sugar, if desired.
- Bake for 17-20 minutes, or until lightly browned and when a toothpick is inserted into the middle, it comes out clean.
