Garlic Cheese Sourdough Drop Biscuits
- 2 cups Flour
- 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
- 1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 3/4 teaspoons Salt
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 1/4 teaspoons Garlic Powder
- 8 Tablespoons Cold Butter
- 1-1/2 cup Shredded Medium Cheddar
- 1/4 cups Grated Parmesan
- 1-1/4 cup Thick Sourdough Starter
- 1/2 cups Buttermilk
- 4 Tablespoons Melted Butter
- 1. Preheat oven to 350F and line two sheet pans with parchment paper.
- 2. Blend the flour, salt, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and garlic powder in a large bowl.
- 3. With a pastry cutter, cut in butter until it is the size of small peas.
- 4. Stir in cheeses.
- 5. In small bowl, combine sourdough starter and buttermilk.
- 6. Add to flour mixture and mix with heavy spoons or hands until combined (do not over mix).
- 7. Add more buttermilk until it is the consistency of wet cookie dough (this will depend on the thickness of your starter).
- 8. Scoop rounded tablespoons of batter onto prepped sheets, 2 inches apart.
- 9. Bake for 12-15 minutes. The tops will be pale, but the bottoms will be lightly golden brown.
- 10. Brush the tops with the melted butter and place under the broiler for 1 to 2 minutes until the tops are golden.
