Green Bean Gratin
- 2 pounds Fresh Green Beans, Trimmed And Rinsed
- 2 Tablespoons Butter
- 2 Tablespoons Flour
- 1/2 cups Milk
- 1/4 teaspoons Garlic Powder
- 3 Tablespoons Parmesan Cheese
- 1 cup Swiss Cheese, Grated
- Salt And Pepper, to taste
- In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the green beans for 2-3 minutes. Then drain and place green beans in a baking dish.
- Heat a sauce pan over medium heat and melt butter. Then add the flour and cook for 1 minute. Then add the milk and garlic powder and keep whisking while adding the milk. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Cook the milk mixture for 3-4 minutes or until the milk has thickened. At this point, add the parmesan cheese and mix. Then pour over the green beans.
- Top the green beans with the Swiss cheese and bake at 375F for 15 minutes. Then turn the heat up to broil and cook for a few minutes until cheese browns.
