Homemade Chocolate Syrup
- 1 cup Water
- 1/2 cups Cocoa Powder, Packed
- 1 cup NuNaturals Presweet Tagatose Or Granulated Sugar
- 1/4 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
- 1/8 teaspoons Salt
- 1/4 teaspoons Baking Soda
- In a large sauce pan, add water and cocoa powder and place over medium heat. Constantly stir until cocoa powder is dissolved.
- Add sugar and keep stirring the chocolate mixture. Bring to a soft boil and keep stirring for 5 minutes. The longer it cooks, the thicker it gets. Take the pan off the heat and stir in vanilla extract and salt.
- Once it has cooled for a few minutes more, stir in the baking soda. This prevents the sugar from crystallizing. If syrup is thick enough, place in a glass container and place in the refrigerator. I let mine sit out for about 10 minutes to thicken more.
