Wild Rice Casserole
- 1 c. wild rice
- 1 lb. hamburger or ground turkey
- 1 c. diced onion
- 1 diced green pepper
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 (4 oz.) can mushroom stems and pieces (with juice)
- 3 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 1/2 c. hot water
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- Rinse wild rice and cover with boiling water and let stand, covered, for at least 2 hours.
- Make sure water covers rice by 1 to 2 inches.
- Brown meat, onion and green pepper in butter.
- Do not season!!
- Add soup, mushrooms, soy sauce and hot water.
- Use water rice soaked in and put soy sauce into it.
- Rice should have been drained.
- Add rice to other ingredients.
- Bake in large casserole for 1 1/2 hours in 300u0b0 oven, covered.
- Uncover and bake for 1/2 hour more.
- May sprinkle with slivered almond, if desired, just before serving.
