Cheese-Caraway Batter Bread

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Add cheese, shortening, sugar, salt, caraway seed and 2 cups of flour.
  3. Blend 1/2 minute on low speed, scraping bowl constantly.
  4. Beat 2 minutes on medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally.
  5. By hand, beat 300 vigorous strokes. Stir in remaining flour, beating until smooth.
  6. Cover; let rise in warm place for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  7. Stir down batter by beating about 25 strokes.
  8. Spread evenly in greased loaf pan.
  9. Cover; let rise again until doubled in size, about 40 minutes.
  10. Bake at 375u0b0 for 45 minutes, or until loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
  11. Brush top with melted butter.
