Sweet And Sour Meat Balls
- 2 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 c. dry bread crumbs or wheat germ
- 1/4 c. brewer's yeast (optional)
- 1 beaten egg
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. powdered garlic
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 1 c. pineapple juice
- 1 can pineapple chunks (2 c.)
- 1/3 c. vinegar
- 6 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/3 c. water
- 1 green pepper, cut into strips
- 4 tomatoes, cut into wedges
- Combine first 6 ingredients. Form into walnut size balls and brown in the butter in a large, heavy skillet. When they are good and brown, add the next 5 ingredients and heat.
- Combine the cornstarch and water. Blend with the mixture in the skillet, tipping the pan to mix evenly. Cook until thickened.
