Classic French Bread In A Breadmaker
- 1-1/2 cup Water
- 1 Tablespoon Margarine
- 1 Tablespoon Vegetable Or Olive Oil
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 2 Tablespoons Sugar
- 4 cups All-purpose Flour
- 2 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
- Place all ingredients in bread maker pan in the order given. Set bread machine to 2-pound loaf size, and a basic setting.
- For a traditional loaf, place ingredients in bread maker pan in the order given and set the machine to dough. When the dough is done, remove from the pan and knead 20 times. Instead of kneading by hand, I leave the dough in the pan and start the dough cycle again until it is kneaded. Shape into a loaf and make about 6 cuts, 1/2 inch deep in the top of the loaf. Cover and let rise for 1/2 hour. Then bake at 350 degrees F for 30-40 minutes.
