Masala Chai Tea Scones
- 2 cups All-purpose Flour
- 4 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Ground Cardamom
- 1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons Ground Cloves
- 1 teaspoon Nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon Ground Anise Seed
- 6 Tablespoons Butter
- 2 whole Eggs
- 1/2 cups Milk
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 6 whole Star Anise Flowers (optional, Quantity Will Vary Based On The Number Of Scones You Produce)
- *You will have a more flavourful spice blend if you buy these spices in their whole form and grind them yourself in a blender/food processor.
- Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, brown sugar, and spices in a large bowl. Cut in butter until evenly distributed throughout mixture. In a separate bowl beat two eggs. Add milk and vanilla. Add the liquid ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until dough forms. Knead 20 times. Form into two 3/4 inch thick rounds. Score the dough to create natural pieces. Place a star anise flower on each of the scored pieces.
- Place dough rounds on ungreased baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
