Beef And Cornbread Supper
- 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1 (10 1/2 oz.) can any kind creamed soup you like
- 1/4 c. finely chopped onion
- 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 3/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 c. self-rising cornmeal
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. melted shortening
- 2/3 c. milk
- 6 green pepper rings
- Preheat oven to 425u0b0.
- Brown beef in a 12-inch cast-iron frying pan.
- Add soup, onion and Worcestershire sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Sift the flour, cornmeal, baking powder and salt together into bowl.
- Add shortening and milk and beat until smooth.
- Pour over the ground beef mixture and spread to within 1/2-inch of edge of pan.
- Top with pepper rings.
- Bake at 425u0b0 for 15 to 20 minutes. Makes 6 servings.
