Raisin Toppers

  1. Combine raisins, 1/2 cup brown sugar, flour, salt and 1/3 cup water.
  2. Cook, stirring until thick.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice.
  4. Cool.
  5. Sift flour, salt, 1 1/2 cups brown sugar and soda.
  6. Cut in shortening.
  7. Stir in oats, water and lemon rind. Blend.
  8. Form balls, 1 tablespoon each.
  9. Put on greased baking sheet.
  10. Dent center with thumb.
  11. Fill with raisin mixture.
  12. Bake at 375u0b0 for 10 minutes.
  13. Let stand 5 minutes.
  14. Cool on wire rack. Makes 3 1/2 dozen.
