Chocolate Stout Hot Chocolate

  1. In a large saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until scalding (not boiling). Whisk in the cocoa powder, sugar, chili powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Whisk continuously, until no lumps remain and the sugar has dissolved. Lower the heat to medium low, and gently whisk in the chocolate stout beer. Heat the mixture 4-5 minutes more, or until the flavor is to your liking.
  2. Please note: If you would like more of a beer-like, bitter taste, cook for only 2-3 minutes (just to heat the beer through). If you would like most of the alcohol to be cooked out, continue to cook 5-6 minutes more.
  3. Remove from heat and pour the hot chocolate into serving glasses. Garnish with mini marshmallows, chocolate syrup and caramel syrup. Serve immediately and enjoy!
