Janssons Frestelse(Jansson'S Temptation)

  1. Peel potatoes and cut them into thin strips.
  2. Peel and thinly slice onions.
  3. Brown the onions and potatoes in a little butter. Alternate layers of potatoes/onions with anchovies or pickled sardelles in a buttered, ovenproof dish.
  4. The top layer should be potatoes.
  5. Pour 1/3 cup plus 3 tablespoons thick cream over the dish.
  6. You can mix the cream with some of the liquid in the tin if you like.
  7. Sprinkle some bread crumbs over.
  8. Dot with 1 to 2 tablespoons butter.
  9. Bake in a 400u0b0 oven for approximately 40 minutes.
  10. Add 1/3 cup plus 3 tablespoons thick cream.
  11. Continue to bake for another 10 minutes until the potatoes are soft.
  12. Makes 4 servings.
