Janssons Frestelse(Jansson'S Temptation)
- 8 medium-size potatoes
- 2 yellow onions
- little butter
- 1 (approximately 125 g) tin filleted anchovies or 1 tin (approximately 55 g) pickled sardelles
- 1/3 c. plus 2 Tbsp. thick cream
- bread crumbs
- 1 to 2 Tbsp. butter
- 3 Tbsp. thick cream
- Peel potatoes and cut them into thin strips.
- Peel and thinly slice onions.
- Brown the onions and potatoes in a little butter. Alternate layers of potatoes/onions with anchovies or pickled sardelles in a buttered, ovenproof dish.
- The top layer should be potatoes.
- Pour 1/3 cup plus 3 tablespoons thick cream over the dish.
- You can mix the cream with some of the liquid in the tin if you like.
- Sprinkle some bread crumbs over.
- Dot with 1 to 2 tablespoons butter.
- Bake in a 400u0b0 oven for approximately 40 minutes.
- Add 1/3 cup plus 3 tablespoons thick cream.
- Continue to bake for another 10 minutes until the potatoes are soft.
- Makes 4 servings.
