Chicken Gumbo

  1. Cut a chicken for frying and fry out bacon slices.
  2. Remove bacon.
  3. Dredge chicken with flour; saute in bacon grease.
  4. Put 2 quarts cold water in soup kettle with sliced okra, tomatoes, corn, potatoes (cubed) and diced onion.
  5. Boil all together until done. Pour 1 quart boiling water over chicken and boil until meat falls off bone.
  6. Remove chicken; chop fine and add water in which it was cooked and chopped chicken to the vegetables.
  7. Thicken, season and serve.
