Bacon Wrapped Donuts – Doinks
- FOR THE DOINKS:
- 24 slices Bacon
- 6 whole Cake Donuts (I Used Plain, Old-fashioned And Powdered Sugar Ones)
- 6 whole Donut Holes
- Chocolate Syrup Or Your Favorite Syrup, For Drizzling
- FOR MY HOMEMADE RUB:
- 4 Tablespoons Kosher Salt
- 2 Tablespoons White Granulated Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons California Mild Chili Powder
- 2 Tablespoons Paprika
- 1 Tablespoon Ground Cumin
- 1 Tablespoon Granulated Garlic
- 1 Tablespoon Black Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoons Cayenne Pepper (Use Sparingly Or Not At All)
- Combine all of the rub ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
- Put the donuts and/or donut holes on a plate and freeze them. This will make them easier to wrap.
- Remove frozen donuts from the freezer and get ready to wrap them. If the hole in the donut is too small, use a sharp paring knife to enlarge the hole. Carefully wrap the donuts with bacon slices, threading the bacon through the hole as you weave it around the donut. See related blog link for step by step photos. Use a toothpick to secure the bacon slices after wrapping the donut holes.
- Generously sprinkle them with my slap yo daddy rub or salt and pepper to taste. Heat your grill to 400F.
- When grill is hot add the donuts. Cook in the 400 F pit until bacon is crispy, about 20-25 minutes. Remove from grill. Drizzle with chocolate syrup or other favorite syrup that you like.
