Soft Sugar Cookies

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 350u0b0F.
  2. 2. For the cookies, in a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, vanilla, and almond extract.
  3. 3. In a medium-sized bowl, combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg; gradually add to creamed mixture.
  4. 4. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until light brown. Cool on wire racks.
  5. 5. For the frosting, combine butter, sugar, almond extract, and enough water to reach desired consistency. If desired, tint with food coloring. Frost cooled cookies.
