Soft Sugar Cookies
- FOR THE COOKIES:
- 1 cup Butter, Softened
- 3/4 cups Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 teaspoons Almond Extract
- 2 cups All-purpose Flour
- 1 teaspoon Cream Of Tartar
- 1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 1/4 teaspoons Salt
- 1/4 teaspoons Ground Nutmeg
- FOR THE FROSTING:
- 1/4 cups Butter, Softened
- 3 cups Confectioners Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Almond Extract
- 6 Tablespoons Hot Water
- Food Coloring (optional)
- 1. Preheat oven to 350u0b0F.
- 2. For the cookies, in a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, vanilla, and almond extract.
- 3. In a medium-sized bowl, combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg; gradually add to creamed mixture.
- 4. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until light brown. Cool on wire racks.
- 5. For the frosting, combine butter, sugar, almond extract, and enough water to reach desired consistency. If desired, tint with food coloring. Frost cooled cookies.
