Chocolate Chocolate Layer Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350u0b0F and grease and flour two 9-inch round pans.
  2. Mix sugar, cocoa powder, flour, buttermilk, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Add eggs and vegetable oil. Using a hand mixer on medium, mix for 2 minutes. Add hot coffee and mix until combined. Batter will be thin.
  3. Pour batter into the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when stuck in the middle of the cake. Remove cakes from oven and set them on a cooling rack. Allow to cool before frosting.
  4. For the frosting:
  5. Put the butter into a microwave safe bowl. Melt in the microwave. Mix melted butter in a mixing bowl with the cocoa powder using a hand mixer. Alternate adding the sugar and milk to the chocolate-butter mixture and mix until smooth. Add vanilla. Add more milk until spreadable consistency is reached.
  6. Put the first cake on a serving platter and frost the top. Add the second cake and frost the top and sides. Enjoy!
