Southern Chocolate Chess Pie
- 1/2 cups Butter
- 2 cups Granulated Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 4 Eggs
- 1 Tablespoon Cornmeal
- 1/3 cups Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 1/4 cups Evaporated Milk
- 1 Tablespoon White Vinegar
- 1 Large Unbaked Pie Shell
- 1. Preheat your oven to 425u0b0F or 220u0b0C.
- 2. Mix together butter, sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl. Be careful not to over-mix these ingredients. It's perfectly acceptable for the butter to be a little bit chunky.
- 3. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in cornmeal, cocoa powder, evaporated milk, and vinegar until smooth. Don't worry if the mixture is runny. That's how it's supposed to be.
- 4. Pour mixture into an unbaked pie crust that you have waiting in a pie dish and bake for about 10 minutes. Then reduce heat to 300u0b0F or 150u0b0C and bake for about 40 minutes longer. The filling should be solid by now - if not, stick it back in the oven for a bit.
- 5. Let the pie cool. Drizzle some cream on top of individual servings for delicious and heavenly goodness.
