Southern Chocolate Chess Pie

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 425u0b0F or 220u0b0C.
  2. 2. Mix together butter, sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl. Be careful not to over-mix these ingredients. It's perfectly acceptable for the butter to be a little bit chunky.
  3. 3. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in cornmeal, cocoa powder, evaporated milk, and vinegar until smooth. Don't worry if the mixture is runny. That's how it's supposed to be.
  4. 4. Pour mixture into an unbaked pie crust that you have waiting in a pie dish and bake for about 10 minutes. Then reduce heat to 300u0b0F or 150u0b0C and bake for about 40 minutes longer. The filling should be solid by now - if not, stick it back in the oven for a bit.
  5. 5. Let the pie cool. Drizzle some cream on top of individual servings for delicious and heavenly goodness.
