French Toast Casserole
- 1 loaf Whole Wheat Or White French Bread
- 8 whole Eggs
- 3 cups Low Fat Or Skim Millk
- 1/2 cups White Sugar, Divided
- 2 Tablespoons Butter
- 4 teaspoons Cinnamon
- Agave Nectar Or Maple Syrup, To Serve
- Lightly spray a pan with nonstick cooking spray. Line the bottom of the pan with bread cubes. In a large bowl, beat together eggs, milk and 2 tablespoons of the sugar (or Splenda). Pour the egg mixture over the bread. Dot with butter; let stand for about 10 minutes before placing in the oven. For a better flavor, cover and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, or after 10 minutes, mix the remaining sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and sprinkle over the top. Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden. Top with a light layer of agave nectar or pure maple syrup.
- This recipe can easily be halved. If halving recipe, use an 8x8 inch pan. It will serve 4-6 people. A larger serving will feed 6-8 people.
