Cookies In A Jar

  1. Note you will also need a 1-quart wide-mouth canning jar with lid and ring, as well as decoration supplies.
  2. For the jar mix:
  3. Layer the first 6 ingredients in a 1-quart wide-mouth canning jar in the order listed above. Seal jar and cover lid with a square of fabric (optional). Attach label with the below instructions on it with raffia or string.
  4. To make cookies:
  5. Preheat oven to 375u0b0F.
  6. In a large bowl using an electric mixer beat butter until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla (mixture may appear curdled at this point).
  7. Pour cookie mix into a separate bowl and stir well. Add it into the butter mixture until well blended.
  8. Drop cookie dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 3 inches apart onto the prepared cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from oven. Cool for 2 minutes on the cookie sheet. Remove to wire racks and cool completely.
