Cream Cheese Valentine Cookies

  1. Cream the softened butter, cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla together. Add, flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well. Add oatmeal and nuts (if using-I usually omit them). Stir. Chill dough for 1 hour. Divide dough into 1-inch balls. Press flat on a cookie sheet. Pinch bottoms and "dent" the top to form hearts.
  2. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Let cool for a couple of minutes before removing from the baking sheet, and cool on wire racks.
  3. Mix the icing ingredients together. Thinly ice cookies. Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
