Cream Cheese Valentine Cookies
- 1 cup Soft Butter/margarine, Softened
- 6 ounces, weight Cream Cheese, Softened
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 2 cups Flour
- 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
- 1/4 teaspoons Salt
- 1 cup Oatmeal (quick Cooking)
- 1/2 cups Chopped Walnuts (optional)

- FOR THE ICING:
- 2 cups Powdered Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Butter/margarine, Softened
- 4 teaspoons Milk
- 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla
- 3 drops Red Food Coloring
- Cream the softened butter, cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla together. Add, flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well. Add oatmeal and nuts (if using-I usually omit them). Stir. Chill dough for 1 hour. Divide dough into 1-inch balls. Press flat on a cookie sheet. Pinch bottoms and "dent" the top to form hearts.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Let cool for a couple of minutes before removing from the baking sheet, and cool on wire racks.
- Mix the icing ingredients together. Thinly ice cookies. Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
