Lip Smack’N Good Bbq Sauce
- 2-1/3 cups Ketchup
- 3 cups Tomato Sauce
- 1-1/2 cup Brown Sugar
- 1-3/4 cup Red Wine Vinegar (You Can Certainly Substitute Apple Cider Vinegar)
- 3/4 cups Unsulphured Molasses
- 5-1/2 teaspoons Hickory-flavored Liquid Smoke
- 3 Tablespoons Butter, Unsalted
- 1/2 teaspoons White Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoons Onion Powder
- 1/2 teaspoons Cayenne Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoons Celery Seed
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1/4 teaspoons Chili Powder
- 1/4 teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon Paprika
- 1 teaspoon Salt (omit If Using Salted Butter)
- 1 teaspoon Coarsely Ground Pepper
- 1. In a large stock saucepan over medium heat, add the ketchup, tomato sauce, brown sugar, red wine vinegar, molasses, liquid smoke, and butter. Mix together.
- 2. After mixing, add the remaining dry ingredients.
- 3. Reduce heat to low and allow to cook for about 40 minutes, making sure to stir constantly to prevent burning or sticking.
- 4. Remove the sauce from heat and allow to cool. It will thicken upon sitting.
- I usually make this the day before to really allow the flavors to mingle overnight.
