Green Bean Casserole

  1. Saute mushrooms and onion in butter. Add flour and cook until smooth.
  2. Add cream slowly.
  3. Then cheese and seasonings.
  4. Simmer until cheese melts.
  5. Cook green beans in salted water.
  6. Drain and mix with sauce.
  7. Add water chestnuts and top with slivered, blanched toasted almonds.
  8. Bake at 375u0b0 for 20 minutes.
  9. (Can be made ahead, refrigerated, and then baked for 35 to 40 minutes.)
