Boktie (A Czechoslovakian Dessert)
- FOR THE FILLING:
- 1/2 pounds Poppy Seeds
- 2 Tablespoons Butter
- 1-1/2 cup Sugar
- 1-1/4 cup Milk
- 1/2 teaspoons Cinnamon
- 1 Tablespoon Cornstarch

- FOR THE DOUGH:
- 1 package (2 1/4 Teaspoons) Yeast
- 1/4 cups Warm Water
- 1/2 cups Butter
- 1/4 cups Sugar
- 2 whole Eggs
- 1/4 cups Sour Cream
- 1/4 cups Milk
- 4 cups Flour
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 1. Make filling first, as it needs to cool.
- 2. To make the filling, mix poppy seeds, butter, sugar, milk, cinnamon and cornstarch in a medium saucepan and cook over low heat for 25-30 minutes until thick. Cool well before tasting, it burns!
- 3. Mix yeast in the warm water.
- 4. Cream butter and sugar, add eggs.
- 5. Add sour cream, milk and yeast mixture.
- 6. Add flour and salt and mix thoroughly; knead until smooth.
- 7. Let rise for about an hour.
- 8. Punch down, divide into three pieces and roll out. Spread filling and seal. If you want small rolls, break off pieces about 2 inches square, flatten with fingers and put the filling in the center, roll and seal well.
- 9. Let rise for 30 minutes and then bake at 400 degrees in a preheated oven for 15 minutes or until browned.
