Swedish Pastry
- FOR THE CRUST:
- 2 cups Flour
- 1 cup Butter
- 2 Tablespoons Water
- FOR THE FILLING:
- 1 cup Water
- 1/2 cups Butter
- 1 cup Flour
- 3 Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Almond Extract
- FOR THE DRIZZLE:
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon Butter, Melted
- 1/2 Tablespoons Almond Extract
- 1 Tablespoon Cream
- For the crust:
- Mix the crust ingredients with a pastry cutter, fork or your fingertips, as you would a pie crust, until you have a loose dough. Pat the crust into a 13 x 9 pan.
- For the filling:
- Put water in a saucepan. Add butter and heat to boiling point, then remove from heat. As you remove it from heat, add the flour and stir until smooth.
- Beat eggs in a bowl. Temper eggs with a bit of the flour mixture. Beat the egg mixture into the flour mixture. Add almond extract then spread onto crust. Bake 55-60 minutes in a 350u0b0 oven. Let cool.
- For the drizzle:
- Mix together powdered sugar, melted butter, almond extract, and cream. Drizzle over pastry.
