Banana Bars With Browned Butter Frosting

  1. For the bars:
  2. Heat oven to 375 F. Grease and flour (or use Bakers Joy) a jelly roll pan (15-1/2" x 10-1/2" x 1"). Mix sugar, sour cream, butter, and eggs in a large bowl. Beat in bananas and vanilla. Mix in flour, salt, and baking soda. Stir in nuts, if using. Spread mixture evenly into the prepared pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely. Spread the top of the cooled cake with frosting. Cut into bars and enjoy!
  3. For the frosting:
  4. In a medium size saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Once it's a delicate brown color remove from heat. Mix in powdered sugar. Then, stir in vanilla and milk until smooth. Add as little or as much milk as you need for it to be a spreading consistency.
