Cinnamon Apple Streusel Amish Friendship Bread
- FOR THE BREAD:
- 1 bag Amish Friendship Bread Starter
- 3 whole Eggs
- 1/2 cups Oil
- 1/2 cups Unsweetened Applesauce
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 2 cups Brown Sugar, Divided
- 2 teaspoons Cinnamon, Plus 1 Tablespoon For Topping
- 1/2 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 1 box White Chocolate Instant Pudding Mix, 3 Ounce Box
- 1/4 cups White Chocolate Chips
- 2 whole Small Honey Crisp Apples, Peeled And Diced
- 1/4 sticks Margarine

- FOR THE STARTER:
- 1 package Dry Active Yeast, 0.25 Ounce Packet
- 1/4 cups Warm Water, 110 Degrees F
- 7-3/4 cups Flour, Divided
- 5-3/4 cups Sugar, Divided
- 5-1/2 cups Milk, Divided
- Important:
- Do not use metal spoons or bowls for this recipe.
- Do not refrigerate the starter.
- If air gets into the starter bag, let it out (this is normal).
- Start with a bag of Amish friendship bread starter. Recipe at the bottom!
- Day 1: Do nothing, just let the bag of starter sit at room temperature.
- Day 2: Squeeze the bag to release air.
- Day 3: Squeeze the bag to release air.
- Day 4: Squeeze the bag to release air.
- Day 5: Squeeze the bag to release air.
- Day 6: Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup milk. Squeeze the bag to release air.
- Day 7: Squeeze the bag to release air.
- Day 8: Squeeze the bag to release air.
- Day 9: Squeeze the bag to release air.
- Day 10: Follow instructions below:
- 1. Pour the entire contents of the starter bag into a non-metal bowl.
- 2. Add 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 1/2 cups sugar, and 1 1/2 cups milk. Stir.
- 3. Measure out 1 cup of batter each into 4 Ziploc gallon-sized bags (marked with the date). Keep a bag for yourself and give three bags to friends with a copy of this recipe.
- 4. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees (F).
- 5. To the remaining starter, add 3 eggs, 1/2 cup oil, 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 cups flour, 1 box white chocolate instant pudding mix, 1/4 cup white chocolate chips, and 2 peeled and diced Honeycrisp apples.
- 6. For the topping, mix together the remainng 1 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon cinnamon, 1/4 cup flour, and 1/4 stick soft margarine with hands until crumbly.
- 7. Spray two medium loaf pans with cooking spray.
- 8. Pour the batter evenly into the pans.
- 9. Sprinkle the topping evenly amongst the two pans.
- 10. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes at 325 degrees (F), until a knife comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
- Repeat every 10 days!
- **AMISH FRIENDSHIP BREAD STARTER RECIPE:
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water (110 degrees F)
- 3 cups all-purpose flour, divided
- 3 cups sugar, divided
- 3 cups whole or 2% milk
- 1. Dissolve yeast package with water in a small bowl and allow to stand for 10 minutes.
- 2. In a large non-metal container, combine 1 cup flour and 1 cup sugar. Mix thoroughly and slowly stir in 1 cup milk and the dissolved yeast mix. Cover and let stand until bubbly.
- 3. Consider this Day 1, do nothing. Follow the Amish Friendship Bread starter rules above.
