Honey Nut Rolls
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1 c. milk, scalded
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 1/4 c. corn syrup
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- grated rind of 1 lemon
- 3 1/3 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 c. honey
- 1 c. ground almonds or walnuts
- Soften yeast in lukewarm water.
- Mix milk, oil, syrup and salt in a bowl; cool to lukewarm and add lemon rind and yeast mixture. Beat in the flour gradually.
- Let rise until double in bulk, then punch down the dough and pat out on a floured board into a long sheet, about 1/4-inch thick.
- Spread with honey and cover with nuts.
- Roll like a jelly roll.
- Cut in 1-inch slices; arrange on a baking sheet or in greased muffin tins.
- Let rise until almost double (30 minutes), then bake at 350u0b0 for about 20 minutes. Delicious!
