Chocolate Star Cookies
- 1/2 cups Shortening
- 1/2 cups Sugar
- 1/2 cups Brown Sugar
- 1/2 cups Peanut Butter
- 1 whole Egg
- 2 Tablespoons Milk
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 1-3/4 cup Flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 1 bag Brach's Chocolate Star Candies
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cream together shortening, sugar, brown sugar, and peanut butter. Add egg, milk, and vanilla. Beat well.
- Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt. Add to the peanut butter mixture, mixing well.
- Roll dough into small/medium-sized balls. How large you go depends on whether you want more cookie or more candy in each bite. Roll balls in a plate of extra sugar, coating entirely. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 7 minutes. Remove from the oven and top each cookie with a chocolate star, pressing it in gently. Return cookies to the oven and bake for 2 to 3 more minutes.
- (I have found that after a batch or two, I have to reduce the initial 7 minutes to 5 or 6. Keep an eye on your cookies!)
