Kraut Conquers All Chocolate Cake
- 2/3 c. butter or margarine
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2/3 c. sauerkraut, drained and chopped
- 1/2 c. cocoa
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1 c. water
- Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting
- Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in vanilla and kraut.
- Sift dry ingredients together.
- Add to mixture alternately with water, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
- Pour batter into two well-greased and floured 8-inch round or square pans.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 30 minutes, or until cake tests done.
- Fill and frost with Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting.
